Planets in Retrograde 2017

All the planets in our solar system are in constant motion as they revolve around the Sun.

In general, when you look up into the night sky, the planets appear to be moving eastward relative to the stars. However, there are times when in fact they appear to moving in the opposite direction, westward, when this occurs a planet is deemed to be moving Retrograde.

Planets never actually move backwards, it is merely an optical illusion much like you can experience when overtaking a car travelling at a slower speed. As you pass the car there is a moment when it appears the car you are passing is stationary and then moves backwards. The car been overtaken never stoped and reversed it was merely an optical illusion resulting from the different travelling speeds of the two cars. It is the same with retrograding planets.
